From concept to creation: the breakfast bar process
Collaborative design
Understanding the client’s vision was our priority. They wanted a waney-edge breakfast bar with epoxy resin that would elegantly match their white stone countertop, creating a functional space for dining and casual gatherings. After reviewing timber and epoxy samples, we finalised a design featuring rounded corners, space for two stools, and a floating bracket system.
Selecting the perfect timber
The client chose Gidgee timber for its striking grain and rich tones. The first slab had unsuitable moisture content, but we sourced an alternative that matched the room’s palette and met our exacting standards.
Precision craftsmanship
Meticulous execution was crucial. We aligned the floating bracket holes precisely and shaped the edges to fit neatly against the wall. After cleaning the bark and rot, we created a custom epoxy resin mould to achieve a flawless finish.
Flawless finishing
To highlight the Gidgee timber’s warmth, the client opted for a hardwax finish topped with an additional ceramic coating. This protective layer ensures durability against scratches and spills, making the surface resilient, simple to maintain, and elegant.
